I Own Some Records

Just a few.

3 notes

Nomad - “Nomad” (Toxic State Records/Katorga Works 2012)
Another killer record.  I have to start reviewing bad records, otherwise i might sound like a broken record! WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA!
Nomad hail from NYC I believe.  I do know that they have members of hyped darlings of NYC punk Crazy Spirit, but Nomad definitely stands alone as an excellent band.  They play a style of punk the kiddies have been calling “crasher crust” or as I like to call it noise punk.  For those of you not familiar with noise punk, it was made popular by punks in Japan in the 80’s, where everything they played was loud and noisy.  Nomad does not deviate from that style.  This record is most assuredly noisy, and if you properly adjust the volume of your stereo, is quite loud.  The guitars are thin and the drums are heavy as fuck.  The vocals are shouted and the bass is surprisingly clear and well mixed.  I think I listened to this like 8 times in a row (mostly because the record is just over 5 minutes long) and it made me want MORE.  If you like bands like Disclose, Confuse, or some other Japanese band that comes clad in spiky leather jackets with even spikier hair, then this record is for you.
