Agathocles/Nunslaughter - split (Selfmadegod Records 2011)
I have always had a thing for the artists that make record collecting like Pokemon; where you just gotta catch them all!  You know the bands, Unholy Grave, Man Is The Bastard Noise, Abigail, Godstomper, Thou, Merzbow, etc.  On this split you have two of the greats, two of the most prolific bands in heavy music: Agathocles and Nunslaughter.  I have been buying records from both of these bands for most of my tenure as a record collector and my collection of either of their stuff is laughable in comparison to how big their discographys are (I have like 25 Agathocles records, but their discogs page lists 275 different releases).  I totally love when prolific bands like this finally do a split, honestly I’m surprised it took this many years for this to happen.
If you have heard either of these bands before you know what to expect.  Agathocles bring 3 tracks of brutal as fuck d-beat infused hardcore.  Honestly there isn’t that much mincing going on here.  The songs are some of the best I’ve ever heard by them though.  And I’ve heard a lot by them.
Nunslaughter however do not deviate from their tried and true formula of grimy, evil, death metal.  I wonder if any death metal band has ever been described as happy, clean and virtuous death metal.  Like all those descriptions, but the band was still credible and worth listening to, not like Demon Hunter or Underoath or some similar bullshit like that.  Who knows.  Anyway.  This record is killer and you all should own it or consider yourself a fucking poser extraordinaire.  Extraordinaire is a hard fucking word to spell.
